What kind of style is GSDA?
GSDA was designed by taking the best techniques from several different martial art disciplines such as Muay Thai, Wing Chun Kung Fu, Krav Maga, Judo, Jujitsu and Akido and combined them to create a simple yet effective way to protect yourself utilizing many different techniques no matter you gender or size. The idea is simple, we give you the concept, you create the style.
Do you also offer different kinds of classes?
Yes, at GSDA we offer the GSDA Combo which focuses on many different styles, fitness and defense together we also offer GSDA street fighting ,GSDA fitness ,GSDA self defense and also , Boxing .Muay Thai, Wing Chun and Krava Maga ,so there is more of a selection if you like change, but also the option to just focus on one style.
Can I change between styles?
Yes, definitely. If you sign up for Wing Chun but find it’s not for you, then we can introduce you to other styles until you find one that is best for you. Many people need to chop and change in order to find the style that is right for them. That’s why our most popular style is GSDA because it exposes you to many different styles, which allows you a more interesting workout that won’t feel so repetitive.
What do you mean by “We give you the concept, you create the style”?
It can take years of training to learn a specific style and this doesn’t mean you will be good at it. At GSDA we do not believe in styles, we believe that every person has his own way to catch on and learn. So we prefer to give you a concept or idea of what you need as well as help you train you reflexes in order to learn muscle memory patterns faster. It’s in this way that we help you find your own way and style.
What Do You Mean By A Mobile Training Company?
As a mobile training company, GSDA brings the gym to you! We will train you in the setting of your choice. It may be your home, your backyard, garage, your office or maybe a local park. Whatever is convenient for you works for us. In the GSDA van, we have all you should need for any type of work out. All you will need is comfortable clothing and the will to train.
How often do you clean the gear especially the gear used for mobile training?
All of our gear is sterilized and cleaned before and after every class. We also offer the option to buy your gear direct from us.
Do I need my own equipment?
No, GSDA will provide you with all you need for the type of class you looking to do.
Why Should I Use GSDA Mobile rather than going to a gym?
Convenience: GSDA mobile comes to you. You will be saving not only gas, but time. No more paying for towels, waters, lockers, or searching for a parking spot. Environment: No more crowds, or people watching you. Also as we are a reality based close quarters combat, we do not need big space to train. The smaller the space the better for your training. Also working outside helps you to learn how to use the street and what it has to offer to your advantage as well as how best to be aware of your surroundings.
Must I Purchase a Membership?
We offer many different options from 5 class cards to yearly memberships or pay as you go. It all depends on what you are learning and what type of instruction you are looking for.
Do you charge for the first visit?
As an introductory special we are offering 1 class free depending on which program you choose. Limited time offer.
How long are the training sessions?
Private classes are 60 minutes which provides you enough time to get your body working and achieving your desired goals. Trainers arrive 10-15 minutes before the session begins to set up the necessary equipment. Group classes are 90 minutes as there are more people participating and it give us time to personally work with each student.
How often should I work out with my personal trainer?
We suggest everyone gets 4 days of activity a week. On the average our clients train with us between 2 and 5 days a week. GSDA recommends that our clients also workout on their own once or twice a week. It depends on the goals that you want to achieve and how quickly you want to achieve them.
Will I have the same trainer each session?
Yes you have a connection with your trainer so we do not like to change it out unless you are not happy and ask for someone else. It takes time to build that confidence and energy with the instructor, which is why we recommend staying with the same trainer.
What exercises should I be doing on the days I’m not training?
You and your instructor will work together on what you should do on off days.
What areas do you travel to?
All over Massachusetts and New England. But when we say mobile we mean it even if you are in a different state or country. If there is a demand we will work with you on the best time to meet and train.
Why should I choose GSDA?
GSDA will provide you with the one-on-one attention you deserve. We understand that people don’t find the time to go to the gym or may even feel uncomfortable working out in a crowd. By doing the one on one class we can also give you the 110% attention you need as well as the best training plan to meet your personal needs.
This service sounds awesome; can you come to my office?
Yes, we will train you right in your office at the time that best works for you. We are here to serve your needs and do our best to accommodate all requests.
Do you offer group sessions or are they only one-on-one?
Yes, we offer group sessions that will be available daily. In the group setting you will work according to the plan for the class that day. In group we practice more but are more limited to learn certain techniques as it’s hard to customize to each person. What we can ensure is that the group classes will change each day so the students will still feel progress. We also offer an option to create your own group. That means you put together a group of your own with a minimum of 8 people and a max of 14. The group assigns a team captain who will be the coordinator representing the entire group and is responsible to manage with us the exact training for each session.
What if I have never worked out a day in my life?
That’s not a problem at all. We welcome all individuals of all levels regardless of experience, age or ability. This is a reason we like to push the private classes as then you can work at your own pace.

How safe is it? I want to learn Self Defense as well as train in Martial Arts fitness, but I cannot afford any injuries that would affect my career.
No Need to worry. At GSDA we use top of the line protective gear that we recommend students to use at all times to help protect your body and face. But mistakes happen, so with all exercise there is a small risk of injury if you are not careful, especially if you opt out from wearing protective gear. Also we monitor all our students closely and if we see serrating student is over aggressive ,we talk with him ,and if dose not work we as him to live the club for good ,as our over all student safety is very important to us. For those who wish to rumble, we will provide time in a closed ring ,and that is for full on fights ,
Do you have a location I can come to?
We are under construction for a small location in Stoughton, MA that will be for private classes, small groups of 4-8 people as well as our signature create your own group class. We are targeting October 2014 to have more information and locations available for you.
Who are the instructors and are they certified to train?
The chief instructor is our founder Barry Goldberg. To learn more about his background please refer to his bio.
If Barry is not available to train, the rest of our instructors are former students that learned under GSDA and were coached personally by Barry to learn the GSDA style. All of the instructors are certified by GSDA and have regular refresher courses to train not only with Barry but also his masters. In addition we ensure Barry and all instructors are emergency first responders.
Do you hold Self Defense seminars outside of the Boston area and how often?
Yes we hold seminars all over the US and world. Please see seminar schedule for upcoming seminars. We also offer create your own seminar. Please work directly with Barry to organize the time and location as well how to build the seminar around your specific needs.
